"I try to create paintings that reflect the influence of my own inspiration, bringing a colorful and off kilter perspective and excitement to the canvas".

I was born and raised in New York and began drawing and painting as a child. It never occurred to me to be anything but an artist, and I live the way I paint. With big broad strokes; lots of color and unexpected choices. I love the drama of thick paint and a fat brush.

I was brought up to be practical. I still wanted to be an artist anyway and found the marriage of a career and my passion for art in my choice to be agraphics designer and art director. I married and my family moved out to San Francisco, where, quite by impulse, I was asked to join a painting class at San Francisco's famed De Young Museum. Another life was born. I spent thenext 25 years painting and studying and eventually was a founding member ofthe Mica Art School, an art critics group. I have my own personal style that has evolved from classic techniques. I paint in oils on stretched canvas - but with an energy that has little patience for traditional preparations. I like primary colors, the contrast of shadows and light, but that's just the style. My friend tells me I don't paint with my wrist, I paint from my elbows. My subject matter is varied, but as a student of human nature, I am always fascinated with portraiture and have been commissioned many times over the years to paint a face and a gesture; to capture that person on canvas, and am best known for my expressive and insightful portrait oil studies. But I also am drawn to the colorful landscapes of Mexico and have developed a series of paintings from my own photographs of the beautiful cities I've visited there.

A commission to paint a portrait of one of my client's dogs led to another subject that has since grown in popularity over the last few years. As a dog lover myself, I see just as much love and capacity for expression in a dog's face, as I do the human face. I find myself smiling whenever I have the opportunity to paint one. Some of my latest dog paintings are currently on display by Rover Kennels, Culver City, and Pat's Grooming Boutique in Pasadena Ca.

I continue to produce all my work in my studio in Pasadena, California where I live with my husband, our dog and my big brushes.
